The painted lord G shown above is the original version done by Ena De Silva. It’s made out of a single block of wood and is 70cm high.

This kind of stuff is all I did in the 80′s. Couldn’t get out of bed without an airbrush in my hand. The “Richpen” and the “Devilbiss” were my most valued posessions as a 20yr old and took care of them like a soldier with his gun. Airbrush nozzles and needles had to be kept as clean as a whistle or you’d suddenly get a splat! of ink on your painting with no control Z button to undo it.

Eventually, that slick, smooth look went out of fashion very quickly in the 90′s, just about when we started using the mac’s with the early versions of Photoshop and Fractal’s Painter softwares.

By the time I left Asiaweek magazine in 93 I had forgotten what an airbrush looked like.

I had stopped painting for a few years after moving to Hong Kong in ’91, and started again when we moved to Singapore. These nudes were the first attempt at getting back in the groove.

Found the images in an old CD when clearing all the Singapore boxes out of the overflowing storeroom.
